Continuous
Glucose Monitoring
One of the most recent and exciting advances in glycemic control
is continuous glucose monitoring.
Since FDA approved
the first device in March 2006, many have personally seen
the benefit of being able to "see" their glucose
levels every 3-5 minutes, 24 hours a day, versus a snapshot
of levels 2-8 times per day. And, due to high and low level
alarms that can be set on each monitor, the incidences of
hyperglycemic and hypoglycemic events can be greatly reduced
while overall glucose levels can be brought into near normal
ranges.
There are several
CGM devices currently on the market and our educators are
certified to train clients on each of them.
Meters
There are a multitude of glucose meters currently on the market
and it can somewhat be overwhelming. We can help each client
determine which meter works best for them with the least financial
burden. A free meter is given to each diabetes client who
purchases our group session package.
